袋（ふくろ）駅

大正１５年、国鉄・川内本線の駅として開業。

昭和４５年、ＣＴＣ化により無人化、昭和５４年、現在のコンクリートカプセル型の簡易駅舎に改築。

袋は駅の北１ｋｍほどにある袋湾と袋集落に由来。名前のごとく袋状に湾が形成されている。
